Laboratory activities will emphasize proper laboratory protocol and documentation, inquiry based investigations, formal laboratory report writing, and standard laboratory skills used both in industry and in biotechnology research such as media and buffer preparation, protein purification, cell culture and immunological techniques. The course will also focus on career opportunities and hiring trends in the biotechnology industry and require that students work on their job readiness skills. Upon completion of this course, students will be qualified for entry level employment or internships in the biotechnology field. Depending on the college, both BIO261 and BIO262 may need to be completed for credits to transfer. Course meets: 1hr lecture/2.5 hrs. lab.
