This course explores public speaking through the lens of language, identity, and power. Students craft and deliver three major presentations—memoir, concept, and argument—drawing from personal experience, cultural critique, and research. Readings from writers like Amy Tan, Gloria Anzaldúa, and James Baldwin deepen our understanding of how language shapes reality and reflects systems of inclusion and exclusion. Emphasis is placed on voice, clarity, presence, and engaging the audience with intention and impact. The course balances live discussion, group work, and asynchronous preparation in a supportive, high-participation environment.
